I just read on a FB friend's posting that she is not looking forward to having the weekend be over and having to go to work on Monday. She lives in the US.

In Canada, this is a major three-day weekend, commonly known as the May Two-Four Weekend. It originated as Victoria Day, a day to celebrate the birth of Queen Victoria. Then the holiday was moved to the Monday so we could all enjoy a long weekend.

Since the holiday is so near May 24th, the holiday is often known as the May Two-Four Weekend. It also is the weekend that young people buy cases of 24 bottles of beer (known as two-fours), take them to nearby campgrounds, and drink themselves silly.
