This post is for Phil Miller, whom I will soon meet in Mankato, Minnesota. He said, "I can't wait to see your first post from Mankato," so here it is.
Just on the northern border of Iowa, along Interstate 35, there is a wind farm of 89 windmills. And just north of those windmills is a casino:
Does that look weird or what? A casino sign on a water tower.
Postscript: As an aside, let me add that it is hot and humid here, much the way I remember some pretty horrible summers working in a cannery back in the early 1960s in Faribault, Minnesota, just 50 miles or so east of Mankato.
Postscript #2. I'm here to do some work with Phil. He booked me into a motel near the
Minnesota Vikings' Summer Training camp. I think Phil likes sports... a lot!
Postscript #3. It is easy to see how
a football player could die in this heat if, say, he were to work out strenuously in the heat during a professional football summer camp.
