Last week I received a copy of the Fraser Institute's latest book, The Effects of Mass Immigration. I took the book with me recently when visiting a demographer friend, and he was quite impressed with it. His comments:
Finished it today.
Most impressed with all the chapters, including Salim's [EE: Salim Mansur, a mutual friend]. Most shocking statistics:
- only 20% of our immigrants come through the regular channels - the others are 'sponsored' or so-called 'refugees'
- Bill C-50 dropped, at the last moment, a provision to deny refugee status to those claiming from 'safe' countries already
- Despite Bill C-50, all those on the waiting list - now about 1 million, are guaranteed eventual admission (last minute cave-in by the government because .....?)
- Immigrants now cost us more than they contribute economically, mainly because of their 'inferior' quality of late.
The sad part of it all is that none of the authors seem to think any government in Canada will dare alter anything because of the votes. Many thanks for lending me this one.
With that kind of praise, I guess I'll have to read it myself! Here is the link if you want to order a copy.
