As most of you know, I'm in the musical Cabaret which is currently running at the McManus Studio Theatre (at The Grand). I've been telling people this is one of the best performances you will ever see of the raw, dark show. The choreography and singing are terrific, and the acting will amaze you. If you come to see it, be prepared:
- It is openly sexual and raw and dark
- It is much more of those than the movie was
- The first act takes nearly an hour and 45 minutes -- use the washrooms before you enter the theatre
- The entire show takes about two hours and 45 minutes -- you get your money's worth!
I have two minor roles in the show. One local theatre critic told me after the show that my own work was the best he'd ever seen from me. And here's a review of last night's show from Beat magazine:
This is only the second show I've been in to receive as many as 3.5/4 stars from a reviewer, and I don't know that I've ever seen reviewers give 4 stars for a show. That's how good this production is! If this show doesn't sell out for some performances, I'll be surprised.
The show continues March 23 and March 26-30, 8pm, $25
with matinees on March 23 and 30, 2pm, $15.
