As I said in my previous post about my apartment out here in Regina, the "kitchen kit" provided for me didn't have any pots and pans in it. But as you could see from the photos of the apartment, there is a microwave. So here's what I did for lunch today:
First bacon. Four and a half minutes for these five strips. On cheap paper towels (bacon doesn't stick to the cheap ones).
This bacon comes in neat little packs that hold 4-5 strips each. I went shopping this morning and bought a bunch of them.
Next chopped onions, micro'd for two minutes on a separate plate.
Then I pushed the onions to the middle and put on some chopped green peppers. Micro'd for another two minutes.
And add some liquid egg mixture and some ground black pepper.
I don't know if you have ever tried to make scrambled eggs in a microwave, but you have to stir them at least once because they don't get cooked in the middle if you don't. And Voila!
It was great. I'll probably do the onions and green peppers even longer in the future, and I'll add some tex-mex cheese and maybe more pepper. I have a lot of bacon and a lot of the egg mixture, so I'm set.
And what better way to finish lunch than with some Islay Mist?
The liquor store where I did (some of) my shopping this morning didn't have Lagavulin, so I bought Islay Mist at a quarter of the price. I have had it often because I like it and it is inexpensive. It is a peaty blend that is a bit softer than Lagavulin or Caol Ila, but that is fine with me.
