I just spent a hugely hectic time at The Arts Project in London, Ontario, and I loved it!
- Last night, those of use who were selected as actors met and were randomly assigned to different groups (or companies). There were sixteen actors in total assigned to four groups.
- directors, stage managers, and writers were also randomly assigned to the groups.
- Then the topic was assigned to the writers and artists: "About the River"
- Overnight, the writers wrote one-act plays.
- Also overnight, 8 artists worked to create new, original works reflecting the theme.
- We received the scripts at 8:30am this morning (Saturday).
- All day, we rehearsed, we blocked the movements, we ran lines incessantly, we worked on character development -- we really, REALLY worked.
- Tonight beginning at 8pm the four groups presented their plays.
- Our group went third. Our play was probably the shortest (maybe 20 minutes -- thank you, Michael and Lynda). According to my [totally unbiased] relatives, our play was the best and best performed!
- We had great direction from Megan! and it was wonderful team to work with!
- I had a fantastic time! Here I am, backstage, getting ready to play "MoonMaster", searching for the inner river of tranquility.
So thank you EVERYONE who helped make this such a great experience!
