It satisfies the traditionalist in me that the 2014 Rose Bowl is a match between what used to be a PAC-10 team (Stanford) and what used to be a Big-10 team (Michigan State) [I have no idea what schools are in what conferences anymore or what the conferences are called.].
I saw my first Rose Bowl game 60 years ago.... on a television at the home of some friends of my parents (we didn't have a tv then). Michigan State defeated UCLA. As I watch tonight's game, Michigan State appears to be the dominant team, but the game is only in the early stages of the fourth quarter as I post this.
Update: Michigan State won 24-20 after a dynamic stop of Stanford on a 4th and 2 play.
