On June 8th, the London Majors, in recognition of my baseball sportscasting for nearly thirty years, had me throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Here are two photos their team photographer, Matt Hiscox, took of the event.
Starlin Peralta, the starting pitcher for that game, had coached me a bit. You can see from the hand position that I was throwing a soft slider or curveball.
The pitch broke down and away from a right-handed batter, knee-high and about 3 inches off the plate.
Paul Costa of the Majors set it up. Here he is with Starlin Peralta and Mike Ambrose, who caught the pitch.
Others who helped coach me along the way were Cleveland Brownlee, Carlos Arteaga, and my broadcast partner John Harrelson.
