When Fred Young narrowly escaped being killed in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, he decided to escape his old life and start a new one, as Carl Jacobs. He wasn't sure where to go to begin his new life, but he ended up in Jacksonville, Florida. As Carl was looking for a place to live, a waitress helpfully suggested, "Don't live in a trailer. They can get destroyed in hurricanes."
But Carl took a chance and rented a trailer.
He is no longer living in the trailer, but with the current warnings about Hurricane Dorian, he's glad he settled on Jacksonville and not West Palm Beach:
Carl was a bit more concerned about flooding since his trailer was only about 30 feet above sea level and torrential downpours might cause a problem. He dealt with the problem by tethering the trailer to concrete piles and to trees, so it wouldn't float away, And when the rains came, he moved most of his belongings up onto counters, tables, and dressers just in case.
Expected rainfall from Dorian next week:
Again, Carl was grateful that he had chosen Jacksonville and not West Palm Beach.
