Going to Sarasota Florida

From February through May, I'll be teaching Economics of Sports at New College in Sarasota, Florida. [X marks the spot!]

It seemed appropriate to celebrate this opportunity with this morning's snowstomp art on the condo lawn.

As most of you know, I haven't been around in London much during the past year and a half, and the times I've been here, there hasn't been any snow. This morning, when we saw the snow, Nancy and I both said, "Snowstomp art!". Today's work is the first in over a year and a half!

After a very late night of strategic planning (i.e. finishing far too much scotch) with relatives and friends, I woke up to see the delightful snow on the ground.

Since Encore... the Concert Band is playing a concert of 'seasonal' music this afternoon, I decided that the initial piece of snow art for the 2022-23 season should relate to that concert. And so here are the first few bars of "God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen".

A late spring snowfall. Two photos. One at 5am when I did the snowstomp art and another at 7am after it got light out. There's more snow on the way, but there's also more warm temperature coming.

When we lived in Hawaii (35 years ago), we fell in love with calla lilies.

As I looked at my original snow art, I thought, "It could use some fixing, and it probably could also use some leaves. I'll do it tomorrow after we get a couple of centimetres of snow tonight.

We may have gotten some snow, but we also had near-gale-force winds. The wind blew most of the snow off the lawn, and the only thing left is the snowstomp art of the calla lilies!

Our daughter-in-law's birthday was yesterday, and our granddaughter's birthday is today. It seemed appropriate to make a birthday cake snowstomp art for them today.

 

Here are some photos Ms. Eclectic took while I was out making the cake.

Tecumseh -- Abandoned by the British

The big loser in the War of 1812 was Tecumseh and the First Nation coalition he led, trying to keep settlers from moving into their territories. In the process, the Brits abandoned him in SW Ontario.

Unfortunately I was off-balance a bit when I tried to add a face, and it came out looking as like a poor imitation of a Picasso face. Fortunately for the blog, I can use a photo app to mostly remove the face. Unfortunately for our neighbours, I can't remove it from the snowstomp art on the lawn.

The snow finally stopped last evening, and I decided to go out then to do my latest snow-stomp art, a cruise ship.

As winter arrives, many people would love to be on a cruise ship, especially in a warm-water environment (Covid-19 permitting).

Also, this Saturday, I'm appearing in a mystery dinner theatre show called "Cruising for Murder".
