As most of you know, I haven't been around in London much during the past year and a half, and the times I've been here, there hasn't been any snow. This morning, when we saw the snow, Nancy and I both said, "Snowstomp art!". Today's work is the first in over a year and a half!

After a very late night of strategic planning (i.e. finishing far too much scotch) with relatives and friends, I woke up to see the delightful snow on the ground.
Since Encore... the Concert Band is playing a concert of 'seasonal' music this afternoon, I decided that the initial piece of snow art for the 2022-23 season should relate to that concert. And so here are the first few bars of "God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen".

A late spring snowfall. Two photos. One at 5am when I did the snowstomp art and another at 7am after it got light out. There's more snow on the way, but there's also more warm temperature coming.
This was snow-shuffle art, not snow-stomp art. The outline will likely last on the lawn for many days after the snow melts.

When we lived in Hawaii (35 years ago), we fell in love with calla lilies.
As I looked at my original snow art, I thought, "It could use some fixing, and it probably could also use some leaves. I'll do it tomorrow after we get a couple of centimetres of snow tonight.
We may have gotten some snow, but we also had near-gale-force winds. The wind blew most of the snow off the lawn, and the only thing left is the snowstomp art of the calla lilies!

Our daughter-in-law's birthday was yesterday, and our granddaughter's birthday is today. It seemed appropriate to make a birthday cake snowstomp art for them today.
Here are some photos Ms. Eclectic took while I was out making the cake.
The big loser in the War of 1812 was Tecumseh and the First Nation coalition he led, trying to keep settlers from moving into their territories. In the process, the Brits abandoned him in SW Ontario.

Unfortunately I was off-balance a bit when I tried to add a face, and it came out looking as like a poor imitation of a Picasso face. Fortunately for the blog, I can use a photo app to mostly remove the face. Unfortunately for our neighbours, I can't remove it from the snowstomp art on the lawn.

The snow finally stopped last evening, and I decided to go out then to do my latest snow-stomp art, a cruise ship.
As winter arrives, many people would love to be on a cruise ship, especially in a warm-water environment (Covid-19 permitting).
Also, this Saturday, I'm appearing in a mystery dinner theatre show called "Cruising for Murder".

Since the geese in the area seem to like to walk all over my snowstomp art, I wondered whether it might help if I pretended to honour them by doing picture of a Canadian Goose (albeit a bit too short-necked) in the several inches of snow we received overnight.

Four spirals inside a balloon. Each spiral is (roughly) based on the Fibonacci numerical sequence.
Here's the finished product:
The first step was to try to draw a circle. Ha! Not easy, and it wasn't perfect, but it was close:
The next step was to insert the spirals. The Fibonacci sequence is pretty well-known, but here's a Wikipaedia link. And here's a link to one of my earlier posts about the Fibonacci Sequence.
And here I am, following completion of the first pass on the project. I went back over and over it to try to clean it up a bit.

Apparently, Ms. Eclectic and I are not likely to get our first Covid-19 vaccines until May or so, despite our age and some serious comorbidities. So I somewhat wistfully did today's snowstomp art.
The weather this coming week is so up in the air (so to speak) that this piece may not last more than a couple of days.

I loved all the snow yesterday and I kept hoping it wouldn't rain and get too warm.
I got lucky! It kept snowing and didn't get too warm, and so I went out to do my next snow stomp art project last evening.
I spent some time sketching what I wanted to do, but of course when I actually get down on the lawn, things are always different. Here's the final product before I cleaned it up a bit this morning after we had more snow at 8am (the final image is at the end of this post):
While I was doing the snow stomping, I realized I was doing both snow-stomp and snow-shuffle art: the major spiral is snow-shuffle art, and all the fill between the spiral lines is snow stomp. I mixed the processes to try to find different textures.
Fortunately, Ms. Eclectic took some photos of me while I was working on the project:
And here's what the finished project looked like last night:
After it stopped snowing this morning, I went out to clean it up a bit. I noticed that a rabbit had made a contribution during the night, and I hoped the geese that were not too far away didn't discover it.
And here, once again, is the final product (for now. As it melts, I expect it will look quite different. I'm hoping it lasts through the geese and warmth today).

We're a high-risk household, and so we try to isolate a lot, distance, and wear masks the times when we're not isolating.

It snowed this morning!
And so I was able to do some snowstomp art.
I call this piece, "The Meaning of Life".
Let me explain my interpretation of the work and why I titled it The Meaning of Life:
If you look at the artwork from right to left, it looks as if the circles are being forced smaller and smaller with fewer lines and less body. That is how life looks sometimes. We're born with all sorts of possibilities but as life goes on, we're trained and shaped and forced into various conformities. The extra possibilities are compressed, shaved, and removed as we slowly feel ourselves shrinking into only one or two of the many options with which we began.
But if you look at it from left to right, you see emergence: we grow, we learn, we acquire new skills, we expand our horizons, we explore new possibilities.
Perspectives matter.

We've had an unusual winter but finally we had enough snow with a decent 3-4 day forecast for me to go out to attempt some snow stomp art.
Recently my art had been more like snow-shuffle art, not snow-stomp art, but this time I had to stomp to break through the layers of crust below the top layer of snow.

What a beautiful snowfall last night! And since Remembrance Day (Canada) [Veterans Day in the US] is just a few days away my first snow stomp art of the season is Kilroy:
The story of "Kilroy was here" from Wikipaedia:
Kilroy was here is an American symbol that became popular during World War II, typically seen in graffiti. Its origin is debated, but the phrase and the distinctive accompanying doodle became associated with GIs in the 1940s: a bald-headed man (sometimes depicted as having a few hairs) with a prominent nose peeking over a wall with his fingers clutching the wall.
